Thinking that Leads to Biblical Transformation

"For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.“Eat and drink!” he says to you, but his heart is not with you." Proverbs 23:7

Proverbs 23:7, (my own translation), basically says, 'what you think is what you transform into. Or, 'whatever you consistently behold you become.'

It seems that more and more people are what I describe as 'living while conflicted and confused'. This only leads to corrupt thinking and compromised living that leads to depression. The biblical concept of sowing and reaping is also applicable to thinking! God wants us free from 'wrong thinking'.

How can you and I live in victory in our thinking? Romans 12:2 is a start!

"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." Romans 12:2

How can we begin the transformation? The combination of Romans 12:2 and Philippians 4:8-9 with practical application activates and can even expedite the necessary renewed mind.

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:8-9

Proverbs 23:7, (my own translation), basically says, 'what you think is what you transform into. Or, 'whatever you consistently behold you become.'

For the remainder of the week, beginning today. No matter what day it is when you become aware of 'wrong thinking', put it to this test

Is it:

  • true,

  • noble,

  • just,

  • pure,

  • lovely,

  • of good report,

  • if there is any virtue and,

  • if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

If it is none of the above. Do this! Find the scripture that is true and pray it out loud.

Sample: I am so stupid. That is not true. What is true is this:

"For 'who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?" But we have the mind of Christ." 1 Corinthians 2:16

Take that Scripture and use it to 'cast down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, . . . 2 Corinthians 10:5

SAMPLE PRAYER:

Father, God, I thank You for Your Word and that Your Word never returns void but accomplishes all that it was sent to do. Therefore, I decree and declare by the power of Your Word, the power of the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ and the name of the Lord Jesus Christ that what is true about me is Your Word. I have the mind of Christ and I am transforming because my mind is being renewed now! In Jesus' name. And it is so!
